Philadelphia Explosion and the Danger of Gas Leaks and Gas Explosions

Gas explosion is one of the most dreadful caused of death by a lot of people around the world. The gas leak which causes the explosion has burned and damaged a lot of property in places where there is a presence of either gas: methane, propane, natural gas and butane used mainly for heating purposes.
Recently, there was another gas explosion case in Northeast Philadelphia were 5 were reported injured and 1 unluckily death. The victim was a worker in Philadelphia Gas Works. Tuesday night at 8:30, the 12-inch gas main exploded causing the fire to spread.
Firefighters and people close to the area were immediately alerted for an evacuation before the huge explosion can occur. A Philadelphia Gas Works truck and two homes were caught in fire after the explosion where firefighters had immediately attended to.

New London School Explosion
This is one of the most morbid incidents killing three hundred students and teachers on March 18, 1937 in New London, Texas. The explosion was caused by natural gas leak they believed to be coming from the electric sander. After it was switched on it caused a spark that eventually fired up the gas-air mixture.
Arkhangelsk explosion in Russia of 2004
Killing 58 people on March 16, 2004, the explosion started when a former gas technician was reported to have arguments with his previous employers.
2009 Viareggio Train Derailment
The accident happen in Tuscany, Italy wherein after the derailment, the Liquefied Petroleum Gas that was contained in the train exploded killing 33 people.
San Bruno, California Gas Explosion
In September 9, 2010 happened the gas leak and explosion in the suburb of San Francisco burning 55 homes extending its damage to 120 homes and killing 4 people.
