Success Made Him Run Naked

At some point in your career, you experience as if a god of Olympus were cursing
and punishing you. In your head you have spun a web ideas brokenly linked and jammed.
You can hardly sleep nor just take a nap. An irresistible pressure forces you of getting the
things over, right soon. You know you need a system that will put them in order.
Unfortunately, none is at hand. Success is very far.

When everything is chaotic and the system you need is far fetched, you get a
pencil and paper and start writing down every idea that is crossing your battered mind.
Pondering on one idea at a time increases your awareness of both the passive and active
vocabulary in your head. This brainstorming wastes less time and effort rather than
gobbling up the whole mental load, which often ends up unproductively, worse than
before. From the most vital to the most trivial you sort out the jumbled ideas. Then create
a timetable. Each one has to bid goodbye sometime. Patience and determination are the
prerequisites in defining, scaling, and scheduling the grandiose thoughts.

One thing is clear: you are not Atlas. So let go of shouldering the heavens. Let
your subconscious flow freely. Without you expecting, it will generate clues, hints, and
tracks that your currently baffled conscious mind cannot do. All you have to do is to trace
these, make logical connections, and watch out for even more free associations.

Once in a while, your surroundings provide the missing link. What you need is an
eye for details and a creative imagination. I assumed you are familiar with the examples
of classic scientific discoveries. Prior to the discovery of gravity, an apple was said to
have dropped down over Isaac Newton’ s busy head, and his keen imagination enlightened
him why the planets are kept in their orbits. Another example is about Archimedes’
discovery of measuring the gold percentage in the King Hiero II’ s crown. To ease tension,
Archimedes first took a break and a refreshing bath. Most probably, his subconscious was
so perfectly running at that moment that he was able to picture out the solution whether or
not the blacksmith had cheated the King by adding a little silver on the crown. The bright
scientist mustered too much on his imagination that he went out running in the streets,
proclaiming to everyone that he had known the solution to the royal problem, and barely
noticing that he was naked. Nonetheless, the blacksmith suffered the wrath of the king.

You may not be as clever as a scientist. But if you are stuck up in a world of
baffling ideas, give yourself a break and loosen up. This is the time when your
imagination works best. Poets write beautiful poetry after a stroll in the woods, a visit to
their dearest friend, or sometimes when they are drunk. Some people also gain insight in
solving their problem through a dream. Success is near to a person who is organized, but
a clear head comes first.
