I have been a lover of Asian Martial Arts films ever since I was younger. It looks amazing to see the artists fly in the air and fight against each other in a magnificent motion. You are like hitting the fast forward button seeing them exchange their martial arts prowess.

From that day on, I started to dream of becoming one of them. “The way of the Sword,” as a popular culture in Japan, it is not only considered as sport performed by followers but depicted on different media resources in Japan and in other parts of the world.

As much as I adore and dream of learning the practice, I get to the point that I have to consider a lot of things before finally dwelling myself to it seriously. “The way of the sword” is not really a literal way of learning how to pose and push the sword towards an enemy but there lies a deeper meaning to it.

“The Way of the Sword” is synonymous with physical and mental discipline. It may be difficult to understand but my dream of becoming one of the greatest martial artists requires my full physical and mental strength to learn and master the practice. The tension between my enthusiasm and my current physical condition had to fight over. I wanted to learn so much but I wanted it to be as fast as possible. I was short of patience to make it clearer. Did I learn it? Not in a way.

The role of mental and physical discipline in learning the way of the sword is actually the core of the practice since it will squeeze a bit of your patience to get where you want to be in mastering it. So, this means that you will need to have enough of patience to pursue the way your sword wants to be.

The Tension

If we want something direly in our life. We tend to make every way possible to get it. With wanting to learn the way of the sword or achieve the mental and physical discipline, we may start to learning that patience really pays off to achieve the greatest dream we want. This means like any other practice, learning the way of the sword has no short cuts. We need to take every step to learn everything the right way. Every step means we need to complete and master each step to further our talent.

This could definitely bring to a great tension between your desire to learn and your inner self to accomplish the practice you desired to win over. There are those things that you want to achieve as quickly as possible. Thus, bring you satisfaction. But, the way to mental and physical discipline does need time and time to accomplish. It is a practice designed for a long run. Every step has a learning to realize and success to savor.

Make Clear with Yourself

The way of the sword is popularly known as kendo in Japan. Its practice is more akin to samurai. It is a physical and mental discipline with strong martial arts value.

If you are aiming to master this discipline, it is always important to go back to yourself and realize how far you would want to learn. Along your way, you will learn some surprising lessons that will encourage and inspire you to move forward and make it part of your life. Think of its lifetime benefit and not just to satisfy your irrational decisions. Sometimes, admiring too much from what we see on TV can lead us to jump into things that we are not prepared of.

Realize your wants and how far you want to go with. This will not only waste your time but avoid any possible regret and disappointments instead.
